Written by Halston and Jesse Barrera (Tori Kelly & US the Duo), who also serves as the producer of this track, her signature sass shines through in this flirty, confident single.
“I got the opportunity to take a trip to LA to work with Jesse,” says Halston. “He and I hit it off from the get-go. He had a track ready for me when I arrived. I knew I wanted to write a fun, relatable, laid-back song for the summer. I decided to write about my inner struggle with making girlfriends. This song is a daydream about being with all of my girlfriends in Beverly Hills without a care in the world. Girls is about just having a good time with people you care about and enjoying your time with them. I hope when you listen to Girls, you think of the special women in your life & enjoy whatever situation you’re in with them.”
In a premiere with Digital Journal, Halston took readers behind the scenes into the studio: “My song Girls is one of the most fun songs I have ever created. It was my first time working with Jesse in person and we had so much fun together. I have never laughed that much in the studio. He is so funny, has the cutest dogs, and has one of the coolest studios I have ever been to in LA.”
