Hi Halston, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
HEY! Thanks so much for doing this interview with me. I have been great. Recently, I’ve just been preparing for the new release of my song Replace You and staying at home writing new music because of the pandemic. Other than that, life is good and the sun is shining!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Replace You”?
Replace You is the greatest song ever. I am so proud of the madness behind it. Replace You sets the example of helping any person realize the badass that they are, and to never settle for anything less.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
There was a point in my life where I became confused and disrupted by a guy, and he let me question my worth all because he simply couldn’t treat the woman that I am the right way. I hope this inspires so many others to feel as if they are the prize and to never let anyone make them feel otherwise.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes! A special music video should be falling shortly right after the release of the song. I am so excited to show everyone the concepts I created with my team for the video. It’s going to be super cool.
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing and recording process was so much fun. I wrote the song with my dear friend Michelle Buzz who co-produced and wrote it with me. We spent so many hours together trying to figure out the BEST way possible to sing it. Every hour we progressed we knew we were creating something very special. I am very grateful for the music relationship I have with Michelle.
What role does Houston play in your music?
Houston is my escape when the hustle and bustle of music dies down. Houston is home away from LA or Nashville work home. I grew up going to so many karaoke and open mic nights that my mom came with, but other than that LA and Nashville have my heart and Houston will always be the place I go to escape to when I need a reminder of where I grew up.
How has Halsey and Dua Lipa influenced your writing?
-Not that much, however the mastermind behind my writing is really Julia Michaels. She is the main reason as to why I write the way I do today, conversational, vulnerable, and transparent. Michael’s is such a beautiful soul and I admire her so much for her art and strive to be honored and a songwriter and musician like she is.
Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?
ABSOLUTELY! Please be expecting new music soon, I have it all ready!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
April 24th for my new single release is the ONLY thing on my mind right now!
Any plans to hit the road?
Once I release more music and get more exposed on social media, I would dream to be able to go on tour and open up for some of my idols!
What else is happening next in Halston Dare’s world?
Currently, writing music, working out, finding fun ways to create Tiktoks and Instagram material, and hanging out with my closest friends. I can definitely say life is good 🙂
