Music of the Future: Introducing Halston Dare and Her Brand New Single ‘Replace You’

Updated: May 20, 2020

What is your name?

My name’s Halston Dare!

What is your genre of music?

100% completely pop with a little bit of edge and spice

Give us a little bio about you.

I am 20, I love cars, sports, fried chicken, and I am 100% an extroverted introverted and I am always with my closest friends and I only ever write about things I’ve experienced.

What made you go into music?

My dad sang growing up so he influenced a lot of the music that I listened to growing up and he also influenced a lot of me choosing music as my career and dream. Of course I had a lot of other endeavors but music was the main one that I wanted to focus on the most.

You released your latest single ‘Replace You’, tell us more about the single.

‘Replace You’ is that bad ass song that you need to hear to lift up your spirits whenever you need to be reminded of how much better you deserve, and when you need to be reminded that you’re worth more than anything in the world and then some.

Describe the track in two words.

Bad. Ass.

Who did you work with on the Single?

My beautiful, kind, and humble, down to earth producer Michelle Buzz.

What was the writing and recording process like?

It was easy. I knew exactly what I wanted to say and I knew exactly what I wanted the audience and the listener to feel.

Do you have any shows coming up?

Not at the moment but I plan on touring becoming something normal soon 🙂

If so where will you be heading?

USA

What else can we expect in for the rest of 2020?

MORE MORE MORE MUSIC!!!!!!

Do you have any collaborations coming up with any up coming artists?

I hope to collab with Khalid, or The Weeknd in the future!

Would you be up for collaborations if other musicians wanted one with you? and who would they have to contact?

DM on instagram!

Do you play any instruments?

Self taught by ear piano, and guitar

Who are your influences?

The Weeknd, Halsey, Bae Miller, Lennon Stella, Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande

How do you get inspiration to write songs?

ALWAYS from things I’ve been through or felt.

Where do you see yourself now in 5 Years?

I see myself touring, at 500k on Instagram, I hope to have played at least 5-10 arenas, I hope to have collaborated with one of my favorite artists, and created a makeup brand that’s eco friendly glitter!

When you’re not doing music, what do you do?

I am always hanging around my friends and dogs. I am never not with them, it’s literally the only thing I do and if I’m not I’m FaceTiming them.

What was the song you listened to most that influenced you to go more in to the music scene?

There was never a song, it was more a person. Katy Perry made me feel like I could be anything in the world. I’ll never forget the first time I ever went to one of her concerts and I really realized that performing was what I wanted to do when I got older.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

Opportunity is often missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

What advice would you give to aspiring musicians not about the industry and just as an artist?

Don’t listen to anyone that tells you you’re not good enough.

What quote or saying do you always stick by?

Your attitude determines your altitude
